Title: Adaptability and the Future of Technology
Abstract: In this seminar, Rich will discuss his career journey
through the software and cloud computing industries, including key
experiences that shaped his path. He will describe how he prepared for
his career and how he continues to stay current in a rapidly evolving
field.
The talk will include perspectives on the future of technology, with
particular attention to artificial intelligence and its
implications. Rich will also share practical advice for students on
building and sustaining a healthy, adaptable career in computing.
The session will be conversational in style, with time for discussion
and questions.
Bio: Rich Deken (pronounced ?DEE-ken,? like ?deacon?) is a veteran of
the software and cloud computing industry. He holds a BS in Computer
Science from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Case Western
Reserve University.
Rich spent the first 16 years of his career in software development
and consulting roles at Microsoft, and later served as Practice
Director for Data Analytics and Business Intelligence at a Microsoft
partner firm. He is currently at Google, where he has worked in both
individual contributor and leadership roles within Google Cloud. His
work focuses on data analytics and DevOps technologies, supporting
customers across the United States and Canada.
Rich lives in Chagrin Falls with his wife and family.
