Hello CS-1A students,

*[Due by Midnight tonight (01/20): session times survey. Link below]*

In case you weren't at Professor Nesterenko's CS-1A lecture this afternoon,
my name is Jayden Stearns, and I am your Supplemental Instruction (S.I.)
Leader this semester for CS-1! I am a 4th-year Computer Science major at
Kent State, and I will be attending this course again alongside you all
this semester.

*
Supplemental Instruction is a 100% free and optional service offered to you
as students of this notoriously-difficult class. My job is to facilitate
multiple "study sessions" every week this semester that you can attend to
help you review and practice with material we learn in lecture. *Whether
you feel confident about current topics, or need some extra practice, there
is always something to gain from our S.I. Sessions.*
All you need to do is show up and participate, I handle the rest.
Supplemental Instruction has been *repeatedly proven* to really help grades
in these difficult courses, *even up to a whole letter grade's improvement,
on average*!
*

These S.I. Sessions are designed for you, so I need your help with choosing
what times each week work best for your schedules! Even if you still are
not 100% sure what S.I. is, or what it can do for you, please still
complete this short survey.
*Please complete the following short (<5 minute) survey to help me decide
our CS-1 S.I. Session times this semester:*

<https://kent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_b1L2BTv8vODB1OK>*

*Complete the survey by Midnight tonight (01/20) for your response to be
considered.*
*

Expect another email from me soon sharing the S.I. session times you
collectively decide upon for this semester!

If ever you have any questions about Supplemental Instruction, CS-1, or
Computer Science at Kent State in general, I encourage you to reach out to
me at my email (jstearn2 at kent.edu). Even if I can't directly help, odds are
good that I can point you in the direction of someone who can.

you can also check out the following link: https://www.kent.edu/si

Thank you,
- Jayden Stearns
